Friend’s Identity (दोस्त की पहचान)

अमर सफल कपड़ा व्यापारी था। एक दिन वह पत्नी रेखा के साथ हिल स्टेशन पर छुट्टियाँ मनाने गया। होटल पहुँचने पर वेटर ने उनका सामान कमरे तक पहुँचाया। जब अमर ने उसे टिप देनी चाही, तो वह झिझक गया। तभी अमर ने पहचान लिया – यह तो उसका बचपन का दोस्त राकेश था! लेकिन राकेश ने बिना कुछ कहे वहाँ से चले जाना ही बेहतर समझा।

अमर उसके पीछे-पीछे काउंटर पर गया, लेकिन तब तक राकेश जा चुका था। रेखा को याद दिलाते हुए अमर ने बताया, “वह मेरा सबसे अच्छा दोस्त हुआ करता था। पढ़ाई में तेज था, पर पिता के कर्ज के बोझ ने परिवार की कमर तोड़ दी। उसने मुझे मेरी गरीबी के दिनों में हमेशा साथ दिया था।”

अमर का मन अब छुट्टी में नहीं लग रहा था। उसने राकेश को खोजने का ठान लिया। चौथे दिन जब राकेश दिखा, अमर तुरंत उससे मिलने पहुँचा। बहुत मनाने पर राकेश उसे अपने घर ले गया – एक टूटी-फूटी झोंपड़ी, जहाँ उसकी बूढ़ी माँ, पत्नी और एक छोटा बच्चा रहते थे।

राकेश की माँ ने अमर को देखते ही पहचान लिया और भावुक हो गईं। राकेश ने अपनी झिझक बताई, “भाई, तू अब बड़ा आदमी है। मैं डर गया कि कहीं तू मुझे पहचाने ही न, या मेरी बेइज्जती हो जाए।”

अमर ने उसे डाँटा, “तूने मुझे मेरी ज़रूरत के समय किताबें दीं, पढ़ाया। आज मैं जो कुछ भी हूँ, उसमें तेरा बहुत बड़ा हाथ है। अब मेरे साथ चल। मेरी एक दुकान की ज़िम्मेदारी तुझे संभालनी है।”

शुरू में राकेश ने मना किया, पर अमर ने उसकी माँ और पत्नी को अपने साथ ले जाने की ज़िद की। आखिरकार, राकेश मान गया। अमर और रेखा ने उनके परिवार का सारा सामान अपने घर ले जाने की व्यवस्था की।

कुछ ही समय में राकेश ने व्यवसाय के गुर सीख लिए और अमर की एक दुकान की पूरी ज़िम्मेदारी संभाल ली। दोनों परिवार एक साथ रहने लगे। इस तरह, अमर ने न केवल एक पुराने दोस्त की मदद की, बल्कि उसके प्रति अपना ऋण भी चुकाया।

शिक्षा

सच्ची दोस्ती की यह कहानी यही संदेश देती है कि सफलता तब सार्थक होती है, जब हम उन लोगों का हाथ थामें, जिन्होंने हमारे संघर्ष के दिनों में साथ दिया हो।

Amar was a successful cloth merchant. One day, he went to a hill station with his wife, Rekha, for a vacation. Upon reaching the hotel, a waiter carried their luggage to the room. When Amar tried to give him a tip, he hesitated. It was then that Amar recognized him—this was his childhood friend, Rakesh! But Rakesh thought it better to leave without saying a word.

Amar followed him to the front desk, but Rakesh had already left. Reminiscing to Rekha, Amar said, “He was my best friend. He was brilliant in his studies, but the burden of his father’s debt broke the family’s back. He always stood by me during my days of poverty.”

Amar’s mind was no longer on the holiday. He was determined to find Rakesh. On the fourth day, when Rakesh appeared, Amar immediately went to meet him. After much persuasion, Rakesh took him to his home—a dilapidated hut where his elderly mother, wife, and a small child lived.

Rakesh’s mother recognized Amar immediately and became emotional. Rakesh explained his hesitation, “Brother, you are a big man now. I was afraid you might not recognize me, or that I might be humiliated.”

Amar scolded him, “You gave me books and tutored me when I needed it the most. Whatever I am today, you have a huge hand in it. Now, come with me. I want you to take charge of one of my shops.”

Initially, Rakesh refused, but Amar insisted on taking his mother and wife with him. Finally, Rakesh agreed. Amar and Rekha arranged for all their belongings to be moved to their home.

In a short time, Rakesh learned the tricks of the trade and took full responsibility for one of Amar’s shops. Both families began living together. In this way, Amar not only helped an old friend but also repaid his debt to him.
