It was the final day of spring break, and Emily slumped on the couch with a deep frown.
“Ugh,” she groaned, eyeing her backpack with dread. “I totally forgot about my school project!”
She’d had all week to work on it—but between exciting trips, playground adventures, and cozy movie nights, it had slipped her mind. Now, her “Favorite Animal” assignment was due tomorrow, and she hadn’t even begun.
Outside, her brother Daniel was happily flying a kite, but Emily was too stressed to join. “I wish someone could just magically finish this for me,” she muttered under her breath.

Then—POOF!—a tiny shimmer drifted from the ceiling and landed on the table.
A little fairy with sparkling wings and bright purple sneakers appeared. She wore a pencil behind her ear and carried a backpack no bigger than Emily’s palm.
“Did someone say poof?” the fairy chirped with a grin. “I’m Tilly, the Homework Fairy! Here to save the day!”
Emily rubbed her eyes. “Wait… seriously?”
“Absolutely! I specialize in fun, creativity, and a dash of mischief,” Tilly declared. “What’s the assignment?”
Emily showed her the instructions: Draw your favorite animal and list three facts about it.
“Piece of cake!” Tilly exclaimed. She whipped out a glittery wand and gave it a dramatic wave.
SPLAT! A huge splatter of paint smeared across Emily’s paper.
“Hmm,” Tilly said sheepishly. “That was supposed to be a tiger.”
Emily burst into laughter.
“Let’s try again!” Tilly waved her wand once more. This time, a lopsided unicorn with fish fins appeared.
“Uh… I think we mixed up a tiger with a fish-corn,” Emily giggled.
Tilly frowned. “Maybe magic isn’t the best for precision. How about we do this the regular way?”
Together, they flipped through a book about tigers. Emily jotted down facts while Tilly scribbled with a crayon twice her size.

An hour later, Emily admired her completed project. “I actually did most of this myself!”
“And you did an amazing job,” Tilly said, sipping juice from a thimble-sized cup.
“Thanks for making it fun,” Emily said. “Homework’s not so terrible… when you add a little silliness.”
Tilly winked. “Exactly! Now, I’ve gotta dash—someone in New Jersey just said ‘poof!’”
POOF!
In a swirl of sparkles, she vanished—just as Daniel walked in.
“Who were you talking to?” he asked, puzzled.
“No one,” Emily replied with a secret smile. “Just… getting a little help from a magical helper.”
The End!
